SOFTWARE ENGINEER · BACKEND, DATA & APPLIED AI

Prisha Nag

I'm a Computer Science & Data Science student at Arizona State University who recently shipped production APIs on GoDaddy's Observability Platform, led a team to Grand Champion at GoDaddy's intern hackathon, and helped build an on-device AI system that took 1st place at a Claude hackathon and is headed to EMNLP 2026.

I care about the same thing in all three: building software that works in the real world, making thoughtful tradeoffs, and being able to explain the decisions behind them.

About

A little about me

I've always liked figuring out how things work and then making them easier for someone else to understand. I've done that in pretty different ways, from choreographing dance productions and coaching middle-school robotics teams to, more recently, building production APIs at GoDaddy. Different settings, but I think I enjoy them for the same reason: taking something complicated and making it work.

Engineering

I’m drawn to backend and infrastructure work, building APIs, working with data, and figuring out how systems behave in production. At GoDaddy, that meant working with Elasticsearch and Kibana to build observability tooling used by engineering teams. I like keeping things simple: I’d rather ship something reliable and easy to understand than add complexity just because I can.

Research

My research focuses on applied AI and the human problems behind it. At ASU, I study how behavioral signals and LLMs can support better team formation, while my work on SentinelEdge explores on-device AI. Both projects have led to research submitted to EMNLP 2026 and shaped how I think about building AI that is useful, explainable, and practical in the real world.

Leadership & Teaching

Years of coaching VEX Robotics taught me how to lead technical teams and communicate clearly. Since then, I've mentored women in CS mentees, worked across research teams, and led a hackathon team to 1st place at GoDaddy. I like bringing people together around a problem and figuring out how to get from an idea to something that works.

Outside Engineering

Outside of engineering, I’m usually running, weightlifting, training for a marathon, playing piano, or finding a new hiking spot. I even ended up building my own nutrition app after getting tired of juggling different apps just to keep up with my training and fitness goals. I grew up doing Bharatanatyam and earned my Level 10 Certificate of Merit in piano, so music and movement have always been a big part of my life. I’m also an avid reader, love photography, and enjoy cooking.

How I Like to Work
Keep it simple

Ship the boring, correct solution before reaching for a clever one.

Understand the why

If I can't explain a decision to a non-engineer, I haven't finished thinking it through.

Build for the next person

Tests and docs are for whoever touches this code next.

Where I've worked

Software Engineering Intern — GoDaddy, Observability Platform

Summer 2026
PythonFastAPIElasticsearch KibanaREST APIsMCP
  • Built and shipped production REST API endpoints (Python/FastAPI) consumed by other engineering teams on the observability stack.
  • Developed internal developer tooling and an MCP integration extending tool-based access to platform data.
  • Authored architecture documentation and covered new endpoints with unit and integration tests as part of the team's release process.

Operations Intern → Software Developer Intern → Junior Software Developer

Junior Software Developer (Backend/Data + Full Stack) May 2024 – Present
PythonFastAPIFlaskNode.jsSQL ServerReactIIS
  • Own internal dashboards and services end-to-end, from requirements to deployment.
  • Built Python (FastAPI/Flask) and Node.js (Express) APIs with validation, pagination, and consistent response schemas.
  • Designed and optimized SQL Server queries and stored procedures over large operational datasets for KPI reporting.
  • Added structured logging and standardized error handling; troubleshot production issues in IIS-hosted environments.
Software Developer Intern May 2023 – Aug 2023
  • Automated data processing and QA with Python scripts, reducing manual spreadsheet checks.
  • Debugged pipeline/deployment issues end-to-end, validated fixes in staging, documented resolutions.
Operations Intern Summer 2023
  • Operated production folding/cutting equipment for high-volume print jobs under tight deadlines.
  • Recognized for initiative and reliability — the performance that led to the transition into software.
